The Olhausen Billiards Story
Butch and Don Olhausen, a pair of brothers living in New Mexico, used to repair and rewind pool tables in their father's small family business. When Butch moved to sunny California in 1969, little did he know he was making the best decision of his life. His brother joined him in 1972, and soon the two started a business together, moving and upholstering pool tables in the family tradition.
In 1973, the opportunity came that would change their lives. One of their employers offered to sell his premises and all his stock for around a thousand dollars. The boys took the offer. The company they bought had been producing 35 tables a year. This starting point initially spurred the brother and sister duo to double the number of units in the first year.
The result was that within two years they had produced and sold more than 300 tables. Today, Olhausen Billiard Manufacturinc, Inc. sells nearly 30,000 tables a year, all of which are produced in their 250,000 sq. ft. facility in Portland, Tennessee.
The company's policies, which are still family-owned and operated, are guided by a commitment to high quality and service. In recognition of their outstanding products, their company has earned the title of "The Best in Billiards."
